September 19 2007 - Last Night in Paris

This is our last night in Paris... so what do we do?

Actually, the few of us just wanna compensate Peggy for her missing the "blink blink" Eiffel Tower last night, and seeing that the Bateaux-Mouches terminal is quite near, we decided to not go back to hotel with the tour coach, and make our way to the tower by foot...

This is where the ferry terminal is

On our way, we passed by this monument...

Flame of Liberty

This is a full size replica of the flame on New York's Statue of Liberty's hand. However, it serves another purpose for the past 11 years or so...

Try to take a closer look at the portrait

This flame replica is located directly on top of the tunnel where Princess Diana met her end in a car accident... so it became an unofficial memorial for the princess...

There's also many nice bridges across River Seine... and on our way to the Eiffel Tower, we came across one such bridge..

This bridge is really near the tower

Passerelle Debilly @ Debilly Footbridge. Footbridge means it is only accessible to anything that uses the foot to cross, not wheels, for example people...

If u want, u can take good Eiffel Tower photographs from here too, and this is where we settle down, waiting for the "blink blink" effect of the tower to turn on...

On the bridge

Still on the bridge

Woah! Blink Blink started!

Tonight is Peggy's night, took alot of photos with this blink blink Eiffel Tower... am not going to post her nice photos here, u can go to her Multiply site to see if u want to.. not sure if she uploaded them already or not...

Mission accomplished, and it's getting really late, time to say goodbye to Paris city, and finally head back to the hotel...

Going to take the Metro underground

Let's show u some photos of how a typical Metro station looks like..

Underground tunnel

Reaching ticket counters and entrance gate

Connecting to even lower underground tunnels

Alma-Marceau is the station near the Flame of Liberty

Finally the place where the train will arrive

Usually, the train runs at least 2 to 3 levels underground...

In the train

Paris is unlike any other cities in Europe. The time we took this train was almost midnight,

Still many people taking the train

Tomorrow we will be leaving Paris early morning to head back to England, so realistically, this is the end of our Europe Tour... Bye Paris, Bye Europe~

well, that's because going up would cost more Euros, and we're on quite tight a budget so...
