September 21 2007 - Tower Bridge

Let's continue with London..

In my previous post, I mentioned the McD is in the basement floor.. Basement floor of what?

This McD is actually inside a building opposite the London Eye.. the London County Hall...

I'm not sure if any administrative offices are still here, because all that we see here are cafes, theatres and entertainment outlets..

And also zombies!

The zombies actually belong to the Fright Club

The zombies are lobbying for something... equal rights for zombies? lolzz...

There's also a Robot World in here

I know, looks weird right -.-"

Eh? The robot looks familiar?

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones!!

I said we're not going to cover London Eye for today, just passing by.. our next destination:

A castle

The castle, at another angle

Technically, it's not a castle. This building is called, Tower of London. I know I know, this castle looks nothing like a tower, I also don't know why they call this thing a tower...

Ok, now we know that this is a palace and fortress

But still no idea why it's called a tower...

Actually we know nothing about this Tower of London, nor are we interested with it. What we are actually interested in is...

This one, the really-looks-like-tower structure

This tower-like structure is another world famous structure... erm.. bridge to be exact...

Tower Bridge!!

Wait, I think, most of u have not heard of Tower Bridge before...

Well, I'm sure u heard of this nursery rhyme? *London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down~*

Screw the writer of this song... I'm sure he's not from London... the bridge in the song is actually this Tower Bridge...

*Tower Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down~* seems to sound weird hor?

Actually there really is a London Bridge in London, but it's just an ordinary, lousy looking bridge.. not worth taking note of really...

Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge and us

They also have an exhibition centre for the bridge

But, as usual, places like this will cost £££, so no thanks...

Taking photos with the bridge will do

Tower Bridge connects the south bank and the north bank of River Thames, and u can get a splendid view of both sides on the bridge..

North Bank - Tower Millennium Pier

South Bank - More London

More London is actually a new development site in London. The peculiar, helmet shaped building is the City Hall, right beside the City Hall is a sunken amphitheatre known as The Scoop.. and the green buildings, they are office blocks...

Here's me relaxing on the park beside City Hall, with Tower Bridge for company

And there's this don't-know-what giant swimmer sculpture in the park

And this ship, docked just in front of the office blocks

This ship is the HMS Belfast, used to be a major warship in WW2, now a ship museum...

Talking about The Scoop, there's a few weird looking fixtures around the amphitheatre.. Fixtures meaning, somethings fixed on the ground...

Like this egg shaped thing...

Cannas and Cath trying to wrap themselves around it unsuccessfully

Bing getting all excited with this egg -.-"

Here's a view of the North Bank from the South Bank

Those with cameras went trigger happy, and those of us without cameras went posing happy or just sit around relaxing when suddenly...

Woah! What happened to the bridge??!!

*Rushes frantically to the riverside for a closer look*

Tower Bridge is falling down

Now we know why they sing this song... London Tower Bridge is falling down~ open up to let bigger ships pass, then fall down again...

Back to normal

Let's have a group photo with the bridge

Ok, it's getting late in the evening, hungry again.. time to leave and look for dinner...
