September 25 2007 - To Manchester Airport

It's finally our last day in the UK... our Emirates flight will depart Manchester Airport at night, so today will be no more sightseeings in London, but making our way to the airport... and this is a few steps process...

Step 1: Get ourselves to Euston Tube Station from our hostel by foot...

Euston stations is actually the same distance as the Russell Square station.. our Generator Hostel is somewhat in the middle of the 2 stations... After a hearty breakfast, we set off with all our luggage...

Step 2: Get to Victoria Tube Station...

We're all loaded with luggage

Oh ya, from 7 of us, now it's down to 5 of us... Keen and Cannas are taking Thai Airways on a different date, so they went off to some relative's place to hangout...

And here we are, Victoria Tube Station

Step 3: Make our way to the Victoria Coach Station by foot...

I'm used to carrying heavy stuff when helping my dad out with his schoolbag business, so I'm being the perfect gentleman here and help all of them carry the big luggage up and down the stairs...

15 minutes of walking later, Victoria Coach Station!

Cath is sad that we will be leaving London

Step 4: Get onto the bus to Manchester city..

Here's the National Express booking printout of our bus

Now, National Express is the inter-city bus service running through the whole of the UK, and they frequently have this funfare for online booking where u get to buy tickets for popular routes at really really cheap prices, starting from as low as £1, and lucky for us, London - Manchester route has this funfare thing, which of course we booked!!

Waiting to get on the bus

My O2 SIM card has quite alot of credits left, and I basically have no one to call so...

Let Cath use it,

And let How Chen use it as well..

On the bus

It's a 5 hour journey to Manchester... and I spent the time gazing out of the window, trying to savour as much England scenery as possible before leaving...

Step 5: Take the intra-city tram to Manchester Airport

We were expecting the bus to go straight into the city, but somehow, with alot of good fortune, the bus miraculously turned into the airport 1st!

We immediately rushed forward to tell the driver that we are disembarking here...

Woohoo!! We're 2 hours ahead of schedule, having nothing to do in the airport, but it was great! At least, we saved £2.50 per person for the train ride and alot of hassle for the luggage carrying!

In the airport

We're absolutely elated with this slice of good fortune on our last day in England...

And that's how we made it from London to Manchester Airport...

The next post will be the last post about the UK.... Can't believe I'm finally going to make it to the end in this day-by-day posts of my 1 semester UK and Europe adventures, which all actually happened last year..
