Childhood

I didn't realize that it's the school holidays again...

How I miss those times...

I used to scorn when the adults when they say things like "Student life is the best life, you should enjoy it and stop complaining about homeworks" and hit back with things like "You don't know anything about being a student now! I'd prefer working right now!"

It's ironic that I should say the same things that I used to hear to my juniors, and get back the same retort; and he/she would pass that message down and get the same retort as well...

Let me breakdown my journey from kindie to working adult...

Kindie : Heaven... go to school to play, eat and sleep...

Primary School : Easy, basically I just do what the teacher teaches, and aced the classes without difficulty...

Secondary School : It's basically the same as primary school, but the subjects more advanced and deeper; the struggle really begins at Form 4, mainly not because of the subjects too tough, but because the teachers are not competent enough to teach at this level (yeah that's the level of teachers in our beloved 1Malaysia nowadays). Here's where places like Pusat Tuisyen Kasturi comes into perspective... not too difficult though...

College : At first glance, it's heaven once again. No homework to pass up every day, just the mid term test, assignments and final exams. You skip lectures and the lecturers don't give a fuck about it at all (most of them). I spent more of my fresh college years in Brewball Pool Club than in lecture halls. Then come the semester finals, and you realize the heaven is actually hell. You skip class, you don't know how to do the exams, you're screwed. And now, no more Kasturi to save the day, you're on your own...

LJMU : Well, this 3 months UK stint is really heaven lah... skip class, go Scotland tour, go Old Trafford, go to Birmingham Newcastle Blackpool, study last minute still pass the exams... And to top it up, after the course ended, still get to go to London Europe and Dubai...

Working : You earn your own income, you become independent from your dad, you can buy whatever you want and nobody's gonna give a shit on you. Well, that was the idea more or less... until the letter from PTPTN, the phone call from Kojadi, the petrol bill, the tolls, car service; and then when in Penang: rental, trip to go back KL once in a while etc... suddenly you realize there's nothing left of your paycheck, and you cannot actually buy whatever you want. In college, assignments come once a semester, if you fail you just re-sit and repeat the subject; now, everyday is assignments and everyday is due date, EVERYDAY IS HELL until you retire...

If you ask me to compare student life and working life... the answer is straightforward:

THERE'S NO COMPARISON

yeah they're different.. but people always compare because that's what we grow from, and what we grew into.. if i were to answer that question, i'd wanna be young and still be studying..

but we all know that that's impossible.. we all grow up.. =)
