Pergamino Cafe @ SF

A good start to the day makes half the day. And what better way to start the day with a good breakfast?

The hotel does not provide complimentary breakfast for us, so we have to hunt for makan2 place early in the morning. Fortunately, just across the street, there are 2 cafes.

One cafe has this banner...

"Voted #1 by locals"

The other cafe runs on this:

#1 By Locals VS World's Famous... it seems pretty obvious that we go to the latter...

This Pergamino is a small cafe... a counter in the shop, a few tables inside and a few tables outside...

Coffee and tea are self service, they have a section where there are hot water, tea bags, 8 different brews of coffee, you get to pick your drink and whichever cups/mugs of different shapes and sizes that you like...

This is my coffee (Neighborhood low roast) and my choice of mug...

The waiter was a real friendly uncle, he was hard selling their homemade orange and blackcurrant jams.

And to be honest, they really are very good!

The price is quite expensive, but I think that is the norm in SF. Everything is expensive here, we've got no choice.

Anyway, the omelets here are superb. It's not my own illusion, there was an Italian couple having breakfast next to us, and they were telling the waiter: "Your omelets are fantastic!"... Italians are famous as severe food critics so, there you go...

Day 1 order: S.F crab and tomato omelet ($15)

Crab meat in the omelet...

Toasted bread...

Baked potatoes...

Day 2 order: Hickory smoked turkey omelet ($9)

Look at the turkey...

Pergamino Cafe is located at Columbus Avenue, just across the street from Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf... do check this place out if you wanna have breakfast in San Francisco...

Lastly, another proof of the lure of this cafe can be found on some sort of their bragging board beside the door...
