Worst Bak Kut Teh Ever!

Noticed a new Bak Kut Teh shop open beside Home's Cafe @ D'Piazza Mall last week, it was fully packed with customers, to the outside. The name is 宝香绑线肉骨茶 Pao Xiang String Tied Bak Kut Teh...

So yesterday, I persuaded my housemates to go there for dinner...

Initial impression was great, the restaurant was adequately decorated, and they have their own customized set of utensils for food and tea...

Then I noticed something weird...

Why the hell would beer show up in a bak kut teh eatery?

The bak kut teh here is not similar to what we are used to in the stalls, instead 1 pot of mixed ingredients, here they segregate by parts of the pig, and each part is a dish by its own.

We were trying to lose weight, so we ordered button mushroom, golden needle mushroom, pork belly, a vegetable, and u ja kueh (油炸鬼).

When our food arrived, things began to unravel badly...

You look at the portion of the dishes, the 3 items combined would make up for the quantity we normally get in a 1 person portion in other bak kut teh stalls... The soup had no sign of herbs, just salty... The vege was poorly cooked and tasteless...

The only thing good is the u ja kueh... crispy...

And how much do all these cost?

Now RM39 is not too expensive for 3 person for a bak kut teh meal, but imagine paying that for a 1 person portion, and we didn't even order any meat dish! And the soup which has no hint of any herbs in it!

Sorry to say, I'm never gonna patronize this shop again... unless someone belanja, then maybe I will try their meat dish... which is more expensive...
