TL

Over breakfast this morning:

Colleague: 你知道吗,我现在驾车啊,看到那些骑脚车的人在马路上走酱慢,几TL啊!
Me: 你知道吗,那些骑脚车的人,看到你驾车,他们却可怜到要骑脚车,他们更TL啊...

Translation:

Colleague: Do you know, nowadays when I drive, I see those cyclists going so slowly on the roads with their bicycle, I am so TL (annoyed ala Hokkien vulgar mode)!
Me: Do you know, those cyclists, when they see you driving in a car, while they are so pitiful to be on a bicycle, they are more TL...

Moral of the story: there are always 2 sides of the coin... chill man, it is Monday. ^^

I was at the toilet in the office just now, and I hear someone humming this song with an interesting word substitute in the lyrics. He was in one of the toilet cubicles, doing big business and was not aware of my presence, I presume...

Can you spot the word substitute, and the humor in it?

Anyway, came across this on Youtube, the girl kind of rocks in my opinion...

FUCK OFF JEREBU!

This shit started I think about 20 years ago, when I was still a little kid...

Back then, it happens once every 4 years, much like the Olympics or the World Cup... there would be public outcry, the newspaper would report that the Malaysian government was vehemently complaining to the Indonesian government, and so on... everyone panics about their health and wearing the mask became the trend...

After some time, it becomes biennial event, much like the SEA Games... when we start to complain, the Indonesian government would fire the salvo back, claiming the main culprits were Malaysian companies operating in their country. "Stop your Sime Darbys or what nots if you would!"

Now, it has become an annual event, sometimes half yearly event... no longer making front page news, nobody gives a damn about complaining, nobody wears masks...

Soon we will be living in this shit environment all year long... maybe the movies are becoming reality...

Kuching 2012

I know, I know, I have been on an extended non blogging period again.. I won't attempt to explain at all, you can throw pellets or rotten cabbage at me if you so wish... =P

The fact is, I was in Kuching over the weekend to attend a friend's wedding. It was my first visit to meow meow city, sadly, I think it will also be the last...

Yes, I do not think I made a proper explore on the city, the trip was mostly a trip to attend wedding ceremony and dinner...

The fact though, is that the city is constantly immersed in worse traffic jam than Penang, and it was raining daily...

Anyway, I should try to make a post of my trip, eh?

1. The Food

The food in Kuching is generally very heavily flavored. When you do your ordering, you need to request for 'less salty, less sweet', etc. Especially when you go for meals in the restaurants. Else you would be having a tough time finishing your food.

I didn't take photos of those restaurant dishes, mostly they were common dishes. I did however take some photos of hawker food unique to Sarawak... hehehe...

Some green bean sweet soup, with yao cha kuai/U ja kueh in it. Weird combi, I forgot the name, and I can't say that I enjoyed it >.<

Teh C Special a.k.a 3 Layer Milk Tea, and the famous (or infamous) Kolo Mee. I had both the original and red ones, on 2 separate days of course. These are nice...

Foochow Kampua Mee with Pig Liver Soup. These are not original Kuching stuff, I think they originate from Sibu. Not sure though. Not for the faint hearted though, some people cannot stand the soup and might get nose bleeding.

2. Cheng Ho Memorial Park

I'm not sure why they have this memorial here. Our history text books did not teach us that Admiral Cheng Ho made a landing in Kuching...

You know the Chinese has been here when you see coins inside. Anything also can use to wish for fortune >.<

3. Kuching Riverfront

It took us 2 trips and 3 hours jam to reach here, and it started to rain soon after we arrived...

First trip, we got stuck in the jam for 1.5 hours, not arrived yet, had to turn back to the airport to pick up a couple of friends who was arriving...

Second trip later in the day, still same jam for 1.5 hours, this time finally arrived. The distance from our apartment is actually just slightly more than 4km...

I can imagine this waterfront as a nice place to hang out, until 2 sights reminded me that this is 1Malaysia we are talking about...

Floating rubbish in the river

Rubbish on the floor

Building wonderful facility is easy, the maintenance is usually our shortcomings, third world mentality...

4. Santubong/Damai Beach

This place is 30km from Kuching, still a 1.5 hours drive though, due to small and windy road (that still requires us to pay toll by the way)..

Our initial plan was to visit the Sarawak Cultural Village, but once we found out that the entrance fee was RM60/person, we backed off. In the end, we drove further down the road and discovered a tree house resort. Paid RM5 to enter the resort area and explore it a bit..

Beach views

Coconut shell shower

Tree house!

We usually joke about the East Malaysians staying on top of trees, just like how Singaporeans and Americans perceive us. Ironically, the truth is that, the ones staying on top of trees are the tourists who come to visit. Locals tend to live in big houses here...

Well, I guess I have nothing more to talk about Kuching... Zzzzzz... Sorry for the boring post...

Instagram @ JB

Sorry for the extended hiatus from blog, again... I have been busy on business trip to JB, again... *yawnzzz*

At times like this, it is really much easier to Instagram than to blog...

Nevermind, let me show you the lack of interesting stuff about my JB trip...

1. Penang Char Kway Teow @ Puteri Pacific room service with a touch of extravagance...

2. Szechuan Vegetable Soup @ Puteri Pacific's halal Chinese restaurant...

3. Four malat lous having candle light dinner @ George & Dragon... don't call me gay, I really am not >.<

4. Braised Chicken & Lamb Slice Combo @ George & Dragon, the actual meal...

5. This has become a fixture every time I travel to JB @ Kinsahi, KSL City Mall...

As you can see, nothing much happens here during business trip... Food, food, food and more food... the bosses think that sending us on business trips are being nice to us and giving us a treat... I hope they understand, it is really not, because when we travel, it is for work and there are multiple tasks to complete in tight deadlines, and then we are forced to overspend on food and overeat because otherwise we will be shortchanged as we do not get the savings from having cheap food in more tangible means (cash)...

So, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, BRING BACK PER DIEM...

Catch 22

The way things stand now, there are 3 possible scenarios from GE13.

1. BN wins big, Ah Jib Gor remains in power, Ah Jib Sou gets continuous funds for diamonds, Hermes handbags and international shopping spree...

2. BN wins with even smaller majority than 2008, Ah Jib Gor will be ousted, and this racist will come into power...

3. BN loses, PR takes over... this BN frogs hugger will come into power...

But then, maybe not too... if BN lose, they most likely will turn the country upside down with RELA, Police and even the Army...

CAN WE HAVE A 4TH OPTION???

Instagram

There is a good reason why I haven't updated blog for more than a week...

Wait.. no... actually, it is not a good reason, it is a damn lame reason...

I have begin to use Instagram... because nothing much happens in my life, when I capture something, I just upload them through Instagram...

I'll do my blog a small degree of justice by posting whatever I uploaded through Instagram so far...

1. I bought a new set of bed sheets. 450 thread counts, Cannon brand, cotton sateen. Been holding up pretty well so far... Do not by Akemi, their so-called good quality is a hoax...

2. Working like crazy dog and remembered lunch too late, as a result, the only food left in the cafeteria is western spaghetti with tandoori chicken. Had to tapao in a kopitiam style lunch box because still tonnes of work pending...

Wait a minute, I posted this before, didn't I?? Damn...

3. Had team building couple weeks back, we won a hamper, don't ask me how, my only contribution to the team was heading off to blow water with other colleagues and suddenly got notified that we got 2nd place. But then, how the hell are we supposed to divide a hamper among 20 people? Well, here's how...

4. When you got really fed up and pissed off dealing with idiots and asshole, you really need something sweet to lighten you up. Applicable to both girls and guys...

5. My laptop was nearing the 3 years refresh date. Got myself something bigger, heavier, and much more raw power.... 8GB of raw powerrrr RAM in this beast...

Next post I will write something meaningful... I mean, try to write something meaningful...

East Meets West

Now That The Season Is Over

With 3rd place finally safe in the bags and the neighbour being ousted from the last Champions League place next season, we can enjoy St Totteringham's Day and a couple of good beers...

Hopefully Monsieur Wenger learned last summer's lesson well. If your player wants to leave, they WILL leave, no point pretending otherwise until it is too late...

I have a gut feeling that our Captain Vantastic will leave this summer, and as much as Wenger hints otherwise, I think he knows the club will be raking in another 20 to 25 million pounds soon... But he acted fast this time, which is good, bringing in Lukasz Podolski early on, although I truly believe he will play instead of rather than alongside van Persie next season...

Not the end of the world though... With Arsenal and Wenger, we know we will survive... when Henry left, everyone predicted we would be caught in the relegation battle. When Fabregas and Na$ri left, everyone predicted we would be caught in the relegation battle. On both occasions, did we?

No doubt when Captain Van leaves, everyone will start predicting again...

I actually don't feel that worried for next season... I mean, we're fairly covered in all areas...

Goal: Sczezesny in goal is much better than Almunia and Flappyhandski...

Defence: Would you trade Verminator and Koscielny for another pair of centre backs? Sagna and Gibbs are not the most flamboyant or full backs, but on their day, they are fairly effective. And a substitute of Mertesacker, Santos, and Jenkinson aren't too shabby either.

Midfield: The trio of Song, Arteta and Rosicky has been integral in our run to 3rd. Ramsey will be well rested, and Ox will step up, and Wilshere will be back, and Ryo is coming back, and the youngsters are coming through...

Attack: Podolski, Gervinho, Walcott. I can foresee that they will share the goal scoring load more evenly rather than rely on 1 man...

Knowing Wenger, we can stop expecting dreaming about an Eden Hazard or a Javier Pastore. That's not gonna happen...

I'd just be plenty glad if he would look lower down the league table and get a bargain or 2 to shore things up. I personally prefers these 2 man:

1. Mohamed Diame - he doesn't cost a transfer fee now, and he knows the type of football Arsenal plays. He would be an option that releases Alex Song to a Yaya Toure role...

2. Junior Hoilett - he will be cheap and he's got pace. I actually wants to see him and Ox on the wings, and Walcott moves into a more central striking position.

Actually I never understood why Wenger refuses to use Walcott in Henry's role. He learns from Henry, and he wants to play in Henry's role, and he scored a hat-trick for England in that position. Not to mention the Invincibles' are formed on Henry-Bergkamp axis.

I know 4-3-3 or 4-3-2-1 is the way to go in Europe, but for the Premier League, 4-4-2 should be the way to go...

LASTLY, I THINK WE SERIOUSLY NEED A SPECIALIST DEFENCE COACH TO TEACH THE PLAYERS TO DEFEND AS A TEAM. The problem is how we defend, not who plays the defender...

And, let's hope my prediction on van Persie becomes dead wrong...

Nescafe

Once upon a time, there was a can of Nescafe coffee. One day, it was bought during lunch time.

Alas, instead of being drank, it decided to do a kamikaze on the buyer.

NESCAFE! WHY U NO STAND UPRIGHT???!!!

Desperate Measures

This was the view of our company's car park at 7PM...

Do you see the silver Myvi on the right side? Do realize what's so awkward here?

Well, you see, the driver did not park that far away from the designated parking spot just to show how stupid he is.

Let me try to show you how this scene might look like 3 to 4 hours ago...

Red arrow is where the parking spot ends, at 3PM, you would see 3 or 4 cars between the 2 cars in the picture.

You see, there were 3 car parks for the employees. Then last month, the bosses decided to close down 1 of the car park to build a new building. So, all the cars that normally park there are funnelled here. As a result, the late comers would have to park very very far from the entrance to the office.

Being the 1Malaysians we are, you know how resistant we are to the idea of walking very far under the hot sun. So some smartasses a.k.a stupid geniuses decided to 'over'-park at the parking area closer to the entrance.

It is a very frustrating adjustment period for all of us. I usually check in to the office at 8AM, and I would park on the front row closest to the door. Now, I park 5 to 6 rows away.

And the best part of it is, this is rather permanent, since there won't be any new car park being allocated to replace the closed down one.

ZZZzzzzzzz...............

Fish and Chips @ 又一城

The thing is, no matter how I look at it, the so called Chips are actually Fried Bananas @ Pisang Goreng...

And, why would 又一城 be called Boston?
